Facts and figures
hospice information provides and collects a range of statistical and research information. The data presented here gives a sample of the information we collect. At the beginning of each year a Directory, is published which lists all the hospice and palliative care services.
Additionally, an annual survey seeks more detailed information, including numbers of admissions, deaths and discharges, day care places, patients seen by home care teams, age, diagnosis and ethnicity. In conjunction with the National Council for Palliative Care, Minimum Data Sets have been established and surveys undertaken since 1997 have benefited from standardised definitions.
